Saturday
Up with the larks, breakfasted ( my cousin makes mean eggs) and out for a tour. Matt is a city guide in has spare time and took us an a tour to discover the birth and development of the Chicago school of architecture. Wow it was magnificent. Perhaps what was so great was that in a city that is progressing so quickly there is still time to preserve and revere their architectural heritage. I have inserted a few pictures of these fantastic buildings. If you want to do this tour look at http://www.architecture.org/tours.aspx

After wearing ourselves out with high design we went for lunch at Bannigans, where I had a deep fried battered turkey sandwich. A Scot would be in second heaven.

After soaking ( by rain) and a spot of restorative shopping at Macys ( their staff are much nicer than the ones in the New York store) we returned to the apartment to help set up for the drinks party in the evening.
The part was to be on the roof on the 22nd floor, so we had to move up chairs, tables, Hi-Fi etc by lift (Elevator). Everything was ready and it was dry and sunny at 6 when the guests started arriving. A jolly time was been had by all until 7.30 when the heavens opened and a fantastic lighting storm hit the city. A fantastic view, but we were getting wet and had to decamp to the 6th floor; taking all of the kit, including importantly, the food and drink. All the guests played their part and in no time the party continued down stairs. The fact that people had to do something other than chat and drink created a sense of common endeavor that made the party really go with a bang. A number of hostesses in the city might have been mad as guests at our party enjoyed them selves so much they didn’t move on! A memorable evening for us.
