Oklahoma

We started at a leisurely pace, planning to make an early stop at Carthage, a town supposedly used as a model for the one in Back to the Future. It was quaint with a city courthouse far too big for its own good, but looking at the sign on the local attorney’s office perhaps not..

We had a break in a famous Route 66 Deli where we had the most wonderful Shakes

We moved on and stopped in Vinita for lunch, we seem to be eating our way across country! However it was good and well worth a visit.

We pressed on and stopped for the night in Oklahoma City. We half hoped we would see a tornado as this is Tornado Alley. We Had heard that it was worth while visiting Bricktown, an area of old warehouses that had been developed into a nightspot. http://www.bricktownokc.com/ It was a wonderful place to walk and even though it was mid week it seemed to be well supported. It was nice to be able to walk in the cool night air, during the day it has been up in the 90s, phew what a scorcher!
