Is this the way

Off to Amarillo, and we managed to drive each of us mad by asking how far was it? It was just under 300 miles. It was also very flat., and the water towers were drunk!

We planned a fair number of stops, the first of which was at a Cherokee Trading post were we were able to shop, shop, shop and say hello to the Buffalo.

We passed on the Buffalo burgers.

Next was Clinton where there was the best Museum on the route.

In the foyer was a wonderful Thunderbird, which is perhaps the real way to cruise the journey. See http://www.route66.org/ This was a must for any road warrior. Across the road was teh hotel where Elvis stayed on 4 occasions, you can book that room, which is decorated as it was when he stayed

And so on to Amarillo, where everything was bigger than life. There was the biggest cross in the west, the biggest hat and finally the biggest steak (72oz. Free if you can eat it all in an hour!) I had a mere 20 oz one.
We checked in and discovered that there was a free limo service to the restaurant offering the big steak. http://bigtexan.com/
Would I give up the opportunity to be able to have a beer or two ( as it happened I had only one beer, a 60 oz. Jug). Julie had the small Magerita!
The limo was something else, as you can see.
